Laura Arrowsmith has lived in the Santa Clarita Valley since 1977.  She and her family moved from Canyon Country to Saugus in 2000 and both of her sons received an excellent education from kindergarten to 6th grade at Mountainview Elementary School and in Hart District schools.

Laura attended local schools including Leona Cox Elementary School, Sierra Vista Junior High School, and Canyon High School.  She earned a bachelor's degree in history, a teaching credential, and a masters degree in history at CSUN.  She has taught in Hart District schools since 1990.  Since 2001, she has been a leader in professional development including serving as her school site's instructional coach.  In this role, Laura worked with teachers to build their skills, thereby increasing overall teaching capacity within the school.

As a parent, Laura volunteered in her son's class during summer school, shared the Cub Scouting experience with both boys, and was the team adviser for the Hart District robotics team, Project 691, for four years.  Most recently, she served as the secretary for the new Santa Clarita Valley chapter of the League of Women Voters.
